comes to mind. But the two threats are closely connected, and addressing both during
construction is one of the most important steps you can take to protect a building long term.
Termite damage is not covered by building or contents insurance. Remedial costs can
exceed $10,000. With the right system installed at the right time, it is a problem you never
have to deal with.
Why moisture matters as much as termites
Moisture entering a building through the subfloor, walls, or slab penetrations causes damage that is slow, hidden, and expensive. It also creates exactly the conditions termites are attracted to. The two problems feed each other, and by the time they are visible, the damage is already done.
Managing moisture at the construction stage is far more cost effective than addressing it after the fact.
